Hi, my name is Ashley and I'm a nerd. A little under two years ago I left my life-long home of sunny southern California and moved to Cambridge, England to earn a master's degree in nuclear engineering. Since my big move, I've gone on wonderful adventures, met amazing people, learned how to design nuclear power plants, and most importantly, discovered myself.
For as long as I can remember, I was a terrible cook. I once burnt macaroni and cheese in a microwave (though in my defence, I was just a kid and obviously delirious while home with the flu). Even as an undergrad living in a tiny studio apartment I tended to stick to pasta or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Everything changed when I found myself in a foreign country feeling homesick for the first time. Suddenly the meals I cooked became little portals to the places and people I missed.
Over the past two years I have grown to love cooking (and maybe baking but we're still working on that one). I do not claim to be a great chef by any means. I certainly do not suffer from any delusions of grandeur (Star Wars fans should be chuckling now). However, I would like to share my little kitchen adventures with you. I hope you enjoy the pictures and are perhaps daring enough to try out some of the recipes. Please do share your results or recommend recipes which I should try!
Cheers,
Ashley
